Cultural Plunge
Although it is not something people like to admit, majority of people have made assumptions or generalizations about others. When it comes to the classroom and creating an inclusive environment, educators need to be aware of their own biases and work to create a multicultural classroom. To get a taste of what it feels like to be a minority I recently did a cultural plunge where I put myself in a situation where I was the minority. This experience really opened my eyes and gave me a lot of insight on how to be a better multicultural educator.
