Summary of Findings
Background Information:
The educational environment the teachers taught at is a fairly new one. The learner demographics show that the students are predominantly white and only 18% of the students are considered economically disadvantaged. For the teachers interviewed, majority of their students were white and only a couple of students were on IEPs or 504 plans. However, overall majority of the students came from a middle class family and lived in a well-off neighborhood.
Reflection:
Overall the High School seemed to implement a few theories when it comes to teaching and learning. Focusing on using the cognitive theory and relying heavily on the use of group learning with social constructivism seems to work for the school. This has lead to a positive learning environment with a lot of testing success when it comes to standardized testing which proves that the effectiveness of teaching and learning techniques stands to benefit greatly from the application of a wide range of theories, each offering valuable insight into different aspects of learning. With that being said, the school seems to be doing well with the couple of theories being used currently, I can only imagine the positive effects that would occur with the implementation of even more theories.
